![]() I know this a really old post but there's noise in the exposed metal that sits outside the port for the USB-b end in the back of the actual audio interface is likely a culprit. The (1) is for people who feel like reading a slight tangent to the main topic I was addressing here. The only time i have noise, is when their is any noise. (Like I explained in the main thread, I didn't see any improvement but more stability issues). I'm just wondering if they SHOULD sound even better. (there used to be better dedicated drivers which were removed from the site many say). So I think that was the main issue, the noise floor has gone down considerably.Īnyways I'm using ASIO4ALL drivers, these were the drivers linked on the official Behringer website as well. Mine was also set to 100, so I dropped it to 54, I've cross checked the lights on the interface (clip) if they matched with the recording software, now they do, before they didn't really. 54 on the dial is the 0db for the interface they say and the game forces this back to 100 everytime I launch it, this is software boost and hence has a lot of noise. I've just discovered that some games like CS GO actually max out the volume in windows mic properties. I understand that every electronic out there has at least a little noise cause of the fact that it runs on electricity, but I tried isolating each part of the whole setup individually at a distance, yet the noise remained the same.Īnd I tried different cables and mic, doesn't seem to matter. However, I still can remember I used a Mac once, and it didn't have any problem of any kind, most likely due to the operative system architecture being superior in terms of sound handling (there is no asio thing on Mac, not needed) Honestly the last time I recorded something serious was a long long time ago, my recording days are over for now. Usually, an asio driver has an option to set the buffer size and/or latency, which has to be set accordingly until the noises disappear. In the other hand, cracking and noises happen when the asio driver is not configured properly. Now I remember, asio 2.0 is zero latency and much better than asio4all or asio 1.0 That's why I loved the emu and sound Blaster cards. This asio4all driver is included in many audio interfaces, not only the behringer ones. But it's true that it doesn't have native asio support now that I checked. The um2 is way better than the onboard audio featured in my motherboard which I have it disabled. ![]() The thing is, I use the um2 because my emu 0404 died, and I sold the sound Blaster just before that happened, which was a bad move. My mistake, also, my um2 is installed with the regular windows driver. You are right, there are no "oficial" drivers anymore, all I've got is asio4all. I set it back to 54 and it sounds fine, but I'm still curious if people actually feel those old dedicated drivers still sound better than ASIO4ALL drivers. By increasing it to 100, it boosts the audio via a software making the overall sound quality sound worse. Am I missing something? Cause I'm not 100% satisfied with the recording setup i currently have.Įdit : I've noticed people complaining about the same and that specific apps/games force the windows properties mic level to 100 which should actually be set to 54 by default as that's the 0 db point for the interface. ![]() My question is, are there anyone out there who's having similar issues? Are the old dedicated drivers really good than AISO ? Cause I've recorded similar audio clips and compared and they sounded exactly the same. Needless to say, it ruined all of my experience so i had to switch back to AISO drivers. In fact I had a ton of stability issues, I couldn't switch between speakers and headphones, I could only record in two channels (first being my XLR Mic in INPUT 1 & second channel being empty as I have nothing connected to INPUT 2), not every app out there has an option to turn the channels to mono, so i had problems with my voice only being recorded on the left channel (Input 1). ![]() Now here's the problem, I've watched every youtube video out there which recommends these old dedicated drivers, visited every site which claims the same, but on trying the same, I saw no improvement. So I've upgraded to those drivers and the audio quality is in fact quite better now but I've also discovered that Behringer used to have dedicated drivers for the UM2 earlier which worked much better and I see various people sharing links for those drivers and they say that they are very satisfied with them. I've learnt that the stock drivers (one's which are pre-installed on the device) are inferior to the drivers available on the Behringer's website (which actually redirects to AISO drivers). I need someone to help me out, I've been using the Behringer Uphoria UM2 Audio Interface for a few months now. ![]()
